Three months!
I made it to three months! (Only 7 to go!) I should be officially beginning my second trimester on Thursday! Yeah! Maybe that means no more sickness. I won't get my hopes up though because my mom was sick the entire time with both me and my brother... augh! So, I am just trying to smile and nap my way through it!I went to my district office today to tell them I was pregnant and see what kind of leave I get. Between my sick leave (19 days) and family leave medical act(FLMA), I can have up to 12 weeks of disability. But, I must have a note saying I need that long, otherwise it is 6 weeks. I figure if I am a week late and get 8 weeks off somehow, then I will have to go back after spring break. Then there will only be 9 weeks left of school. Since I think my due date is really later, and first babies seem to show up late, this may work out! I also have to apply for disability insurance since we don't pay into it. I don't know how this will work with a "preexisting condition" but we shall see!
Scott was talking to the people in HR at his work asking about the FLMA to see how much time he can take. The woman asked why he needed it and he said because I was having a baby. She said "but why do you need it specifically... bonding, what?" He felt like it was an interrogation! She didn't know the answer, so I guess we will find out on that too!
Baby Center Update:
Your belly may soon be big enough to announce to the world that you're expecting, but your baby is still tiny. In fact, he's only about 3 inches long crown to rump — roughly the size of a jumbo shrimp — and weighs just about an ounce. Despite the small proportions, there's a fully formed baby inside your womb now. Much more proportional than it was a few weeks ago, his head is now only about a third the size of his body. His tiny, unique fingerprints are already in place. His kidneys and urinary tract are functional, and he's starting to urinate out the amniotic fluid he's been swallowing. As you start your second trimester, most of your baby's critical development will be completed, and your odds of miscarriage will drop considerably.
Pretty darn amazing! Fingerprints already. Wow! How can anyone say this isn't a miracle? My little jumbo shrimp!
Thursday I have my next doctor appointment and finally get to hear the heartbeat! yeah! I wish I could record it and post it here somehow! I really wish I could have another ultrasound to see how he/she has grown in the past 4 weeks! *prayers for a strong heartbeat!*
