Just to make everyone crazy
... we have decided NOT to find out what we are having! Since we found out we are having a baby, Scott and I have gone back and forth about if we really want to find out the sex of the baby. At first we were all for it! Then we could decorate and call the baby by name and buy cute clothes! But the more we thought about it, we have both always wanted to be surprised! We talked about how much more exciting delivery would be waiting to find out who we were having. I also think it would be extra special for Scott to make the big announcement "It's a girl!!!" or "It's a boy!!!" Plus, I think it will help keep my prayers focused on a healthy baby and not putting in my order to God! (as if that works!)
I know most people aren't excited to hear we won't know what we are having until he/she gets here! Over the last year about 8 babies have been born to friends and every one of them found out what they were having... we are definitely not the norm! (but no one ever accused us of that before) I love the questions/comments "how will people know what to get you?" or "wow, you're gonna get a lot of green and yellow!" Well, we figure, since the baby will be born in the winter he/she will be wearing a lot of sleepers and blankets, so it should be alright!
We were bored today and decided to go to Babies R Us in Bakersfield and browse through all the stuff we will need when baby gets here! Boy, oh boy...there is so much! We (I) had a crib picked out at Pottery Barn Kids (which was way too expensive) and when we got to BRU, we found one we really loved (less than half the price!) And the bedding in it is what we decided to register for. It is yellow and green with honey bees and black gingham. The crib and other furniture we picked is black (definitely not traditional) and the bedding looks beautiful with it! We even found a glider which was black with black gingham fabric! So, this is what the nursery will be... honey bees! I am ready to paint! However, we still need move the furniture out of the room, rip out the carpet, put in the new floor and baseboards before we can paint! I guess I need to wait until Scott's shoulder heals first though... wouldn't want him to need another surgery because I was too enthusiastic!
